Archivio Giorgini

Residenza Il Villino’s owner, Neri, is Giovanni B. Giorgini grandson. In 1951 Giorgini, a Florentine executive with good connections in the US, organized the first Italian fashion show. For the next 15 years, he managed the presentations in the splendid Sala Bianca of Pitti Palace, were Valentino, Armani and many other designers made their start.

This is the reason why the Residenza hosts Giorgini Archive, the organization owning the most important documentation on early Italian Fashion. The collection includes photographs, letters, invitations, programs, press releases, magazines and newspapers.

A gorgeous gown by Roberto Capucci, surrounded by some B&W photographs, is on display in breakfast room. Dedicated to Giorgini the dress was made in 2001 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the birth of Italian fashion. A small library is also available to our guests.
